Shires League Final – rules 2008
Babington College, Leicester
The Team shall comprise no more than 5 boys and
5 girls, born on or after 1st January, 1991 for U17 event, 1st
January, 1993 for U15 event and 1st January, 1995 for U13 event.

Rank Order – a list of players, ranked in order
for singles, doubles and mixed, must be sent with the team nomination form by
the date requested on the invitation to the final.
Only the
pairs that team managers intend to use in the doubles and mixed rankings should
be sent. There is no need to rank every possible combination.
If a new doubles
pairing is used, the ranking of the new pair becomes binding. The rank order
will be scrutinised (supporting evidence may be sought), and may, if necessary,
be changed by the Organiser.
If a team
plays a player or pair out of order, one game will be awarded to their
opponents 21-0, this to be the ‘lower numbered’ game in the relevant
discipline.
A Match will comprise 20 games – 4 x Mixed
Doubles, 4 x Boys Singles, 4 x Girls Singles, 4 x Boys Doubles, 4 x Girls
Doubles and. All games will be to 21 points, no setting; change ends at 11.
Where a team
cannot field a full side, the ‘lowest numbered’ games will be those to be
conceded first. (eg boys’ singles 2 will be conceded before boys’ singles 3)
Team
Composition - when a
team comprises 5 boys and 5 girls, every player need not play in every match.
Knocking Up - players must be ready to play when
called. Knocking-up will be limited to 2 minutes before each game; players must
not leave the court between the knock-up and the start of the game.
Order of
Play: mixed, singles then
level doubles.
Substitutions
in a Match are
permitted if a player becomes incapacitated after play has begun, subject to:
the
Organiser agreeing that any such substitution does not contravene the
Tournament rules
the Manager of
the opposing team being notified of the substitution.
Match and
Group Winners will be
determined using the following criteria:
Match:
1.
The County
that wins the most games
2.
The County
that scores the most points
3.
The County that
wins the majority of the games 1BS, 1GS, 1BD, 1GD, 1MD
Group:
1.
The County
that wins the most matches
2.
The County
that wins the most games
3.
The County
that wins the most points
4.
The winner
in each match between the two otherwise equal Counties
Shuttles – Yehlex Championship Feather
Shuttlecocks will be used. The Organiser will determine the speed of the
shuttlecock. Once the speed has been agreed, no interference with that speed
will be accepted.

Organiser’s decision in all matters is final.
